Welcome to my new blog! I’ll be sharing my experiences as a wedding photographer, giving you some tips on how to help us create perfect memories of your big day, and sharing ideas with you. I also hope you’ll be inspired by the photographs I share.
Today, I’m taking a look at the top eight moments we wedding photographers love to capture. Here are my magic moments.
Only girls allowed…The bride getting ready with mum and bridesmaids
Wedding photographers can get some lovely and informal images while the bride gets ready for her big day – having her hair and make-up done, and sharing some quality time with her mum and bridesmaids. In recent years, there has been a growth in couples asking for documentary-style images like these to sit alongside the more formal family line-up shots. Many couples like the informality and feel the photographs give them a real flavour of a day which can fly by.
Daddy’s girl…The bride with her dad
It’s a moment many dads dream of: getting into the car to take their daughter to their wedding, then walking her down the aisle. Capture that in a photograph, and it becomes a memory which can last a lifetime. Wedding photographers like me love making images which capture that connection between the bride and her dad.
True romance…The kiss outside the venue
Nothing says wedded bliss like it. Your wedding day isn’t the time to be shy about it – this picture will bring you a warm glow through the coming years. It’s great helping couples make memories like this.
Aw, petal…Your gorgeous wedding day flowers
Flowers are an important part of anyone’s wedding day. You’ve spent hour choosing the perfect bridal bouquet, and bouquets for your bridesmaids, the groom and best man’s button holes, and the floral decorations for your venue. Photographs of your wedding flowers will help memories of them last long after the blooms have faded.
So cute…The flower girls and page boys, all dressed up
Don’t the younger members of the clan scrub up well on big occasions? Capture that while you can, before they’re back in T-shirts and jeans, leggings, or shorts. Keep the pictures in the family album to show their boyfriends and girlfriends when they get older!
Bromance…The groom with his best man
Did he pretend to forget the rings? Did he make the best speech, ever? Whether a groom’s best man is his best pal or brother, he’s his biggest support on his big day. Getting him in the pictures also cuts down the time the best man has to come up with pranks like adding tin cans to the back of the wedding car…
Strictly come dancing…The first dance
That song choice is key, it could make that magic moment. Perhaps it’s “your song”, or a classic track like Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World or Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely? Many wedding photographers, like me, shoot video as well as still images. This moment is perfect for that special video moment you can share on social media and keep watching again and again. Let’s not forget still images, though – a picture of this moment is also pretty special.
Party people…Family and friends let their hair down
Isn’t it wonderful to see all the people you care about having a great time? Images of them laughing, chatting, and doing their thing on the dance floor will bring back great times. Now wasn’t that just a wonderful day?
